Mixing Monitors for Lt Dan Band
I have been mixing monitors for Lt Dan Band a few years now. After the old engineer left, I once again moved to the position after only subbing for him a handful of times. Sitting at 13 band members, each on wireless stereo in ear mixes, it can be challenging. One of the biggest challenges is coordinating and managing the wireless on military bases we play on. While wireless technology certainly has gotten a lot better than when I first started with the band, but military base interference is always not ideal.
Mixing monitors on the CL5 allows me to let a few band members the option to mix their own in ear mixes with the MonitorMix app. I only allow the drummer and the keyboard player this option due to not having the band members getting their phones out of their pockets and look like they are texting on stage. It works extremely well for them. For the others I have a couple talk back mics that go straight to my cue mix. That works ok, some old guys in the band refuse to use them and instead still use hand signals.
